What is Wisdom

What is wisdom?

Who can be referred to as a wise individual?

Does wisdom have anything to do with age?

Does much learning make one wise and is wisdom acquired through conscious human effort called learning?

Finally, how does one acquire wisdom?

Welcome to this journey into the realm of the revelation of the truth of what wisdom is, who a wise person is and how to acquire wisdom.

The truth about wisdom was penned down thousands of  years ago in the Holy scriptures for the purpose of making people wise but there were  conditions  attached and unfortunately, mankind has become too busy,  self absorbed, science oriented (evolution) and philosophical to believe in the words of his maker.

The bible or the Holy scriptures are the manufacturer's manual, they instruct you about everything concerning your life. If you must acquire wisdom, you must study the words of the creator, meditate on them, ask the right questions and above all have a listening heart.

From the beginning of time wisdom is something mankind earnestly desired. As a matter of fact it was on the list of the things to be gained upon disobedience to the command of  the Almighty, as presented by the devil to the woman in the garden when he said  “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil”  and  from verse 6 , When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Genesis 3 : 5 -7.

The man and woman in the garden had knowledge but had not yet gained wisdom. The devil presented the fruit which they had been commanded not to eat of, as a certain or sure source of wisdom and the woman took the fruit and ate it and did give some to her husband and he also ate of it and their eyes were opened, they gained understanding but their spirit had been corrupted by their rebellious act thus blocking them from gaining wisdom which can only be accessed by the Spirit of GOD.

They inevitably lost the  ruler-ship of the kingdom that was set up for them to govern, lost favour with GOD, gained understanding of their immediate situation or condition but did not in any way have access to or gain wisdom.

As a matter of fact, their rebellious act cut them off from the Spirit of God and from any possibility of accessing wisdom. They also lost their home when they were chased out of the Garden of Eden so that they haven already become corrupt do not end up part-taking of the the fruit of the tree of Life because their understanding and general nature had been corrupted and if allowed to part-take of the tree of life would end up becoming an ally of the enemy(ies) of the Almighty.

Now, what is wisdom?
Although, Merriam-Webster's  dictionary of English  defines wisdom as follows;

a : accumulated philosophic or scientific learning : knowledge b : ability to discern inner qualities and relationships : insight c : good sense : judgment d : generally accepted belief <challenges what has become accepted wisdom among many historians — Robert Darnton>
2: a wise attitude, belief, or course of action
3: the teachings of the ancient wise men
and
Wikipedia goes on to define it; "Wisdom is a deep understanding and realization of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to apply perceptions, judgments and actions in keeping with this understanding. It often requires control of one's emotional reactions (the "passions") so that universal principles, reason and knowledge prevail to determine one's actions. Wisdom is also the comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action".

I would like to make it clear, that wisdom simply is the correct application of knowledge.. There is an overwhelming abundance of knowledgeable people but not all are wise.

The possession of knowledge does not equate to being wise.Just like the possession of an abundance of information on say banking does not necessarily translate into one being wealthy.

The ones who get wealthy most of the time do not possess an abundance of information but are able to adequately and appropriately make use of the amount of information they possess in a manner that ensures that it translates into wealth.

WISDOM  is the correct application of KNOWLEDGE !!.
